Skin Needling

Skin Needling

The Medical Roller

Skin Needling is a non-invasive, result-orientated technology. This procedure uses a roller with microscopic needles between 0.15- 2mm long.  As the needles are rolled over the skin, tiny puncture wound are created in the epidermis and dermis that encourage the skin’s own natural healing response. As the medical grade stainless steel needles penetrate, they effectively create microscopic trauma deep within the skin’s matrix. The skin reacts and tiny electrical signals are released which create a wound healing response. The needles and rolling mechanisms are specifically designed to target and penetrate only sections (fractions) of the skin during each treatment. As a result, there is less down time, less discomfort and an almost immediate outcome.

Needling is used to:

  • Stimulate production of Collagen
  • Assist in the absorption of cosmetic products
  • Reduce appearance of Wrinkles, Pigmentation and Sun damage
  • Treat Acne, Pimples and Blackheads
  • Improve depressed Acne Scarring
  • Reduce the appearance of Scarring, Stretch Marks and Cellulite
  • Improve chicken pox Scars
  • Reduce the appearance of Enlarged Pores
  • Improve Skin Texture
  • Treat Alopecia and encourage the growth of stronger, thicker hair.

The treatment is carried out using topical numbing cream. Afterwards, your skin will be red, but you can return to normal activities immediately. Depressed facial scars can be treated with Subcision before skin needling.  The scar surface is released from the underlying fibrous attachments in order to achieve significant improvement in appearance and reduce the depth of the scars.

Multiple treatments are usually necessary to achieve optimal result. Treatment effects are cumulative and will usually be seen within 6-8 weeks of each treatment. In comparison to prolonged recovery time from laser resurfacing and chemical peels, the short recovery time following Skin Needling makes it an excellent alternative method for improving lines and scars.
